Banning bicycles is not the solution

Although a so-called safety group is calling for a ban on all iowa farm to market roads, banning cycles is clearly not the right or only solution.  There are many other ways to promote safe sharing of the roads.  Particularly since many of the farm to market roads get so little traffic to begin with!

New Iowa DOT Bike Map

The  Iowa DOT has released a new 2009 transportation map for cyclists.  The roads on the map are color coded according to their average daily traffic.  It also includes indications where the roads have paved shoulders and other good features.  Some trails are also included.  Get your map here:  http://www.iowabicyclecoalition.org/dotbikemap
